How to add a clickable link to a PDF

Turn a line of text or any area of a page into a link that opens a web address, email or phone number. The link works in the downloaded PDF.

This opens the editor’s upload box on our home page. Your PDF is opened in your browser and is not uploaded.

The short answer

Open the PDF in EasyPDFPlay, select Link, drag over an area or click a line of text, enter the address and select Add link. Then download the PDF.

Step by step

  1. Open your PDF in the upload box on the home page.
  2. Select Link. Drag over an area, or click a line of text to link that line.
  3. Enter the address. Type a web address, email address or phone number. A web address without https:// is fixed for you.
  4. Download the PDF. Open it in a PDF viewer and click the link to test it.

Good uses

  • Link a website name or button area
  • Link an email address on a CV or brochure
  • Add a booking or payment page to an invoice

Limits

  • Links are written as clickable areas on the page and are drawn with a thin underline.
  • Only web, email and phone links are accepted.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.
