Edit PDF Text Online Free: Change Existing Text in Your Browser
Click a line of existing text in your PDF, retype it and download the result. EasyPDFPlay reads the fonts inside your document and reuses them, so your change blends in. Free, no sign-up, no watermark, and your file never leaves your device.
This opens the editor’s upload box on our home page. Your PDF is opened in your browser and is not uploaded.
How to edit text in a PDF, step by step
Open your PDF
Choose the file in the upload box on the home page, or drag it onto the page. It opens in your browser and Edit text is the active tool.
Click the line you want to change
Click any existing text, retype it, then press Enter or click away to apply the change.
Adjust the font if needed
While a line is selected you can change the font, switch bold on or off and use the Weight slider. You can also search Google Fonts.
Check the result
Use Undo and Redo to step back and forth, and Search to find other text you want to change.
Select Download PDF
You get a new copy named after your file with “-edited” added. Your original file is not changed.
Why edit PDF text directly in the page
Fonts are reused from your PDF
EasyPDFPlay reads the fonts embedded in your document and uses them for your edit. When a character is not available in the original font, it falls back to the closest matching font. The editor tells you after saving if any characters had to be substituted.
Edit in place, one line at a time
You change the words where they sit on the page instead of retyping the whole document. That suits corrected dates, names, amounts, addresses and typos in contracts, invoices and forms.
Nothing is uploaded
The PDF is opened, edited and saved inside your browser. You can confirm this by watching your browser’s network tab while you work. See the Privacy Policy for what the website itself loads, such as analytics and libraries.
No account, no watermark, no limits set by us
There is no sign-up, no trial and no watermark on the downloaded file. EasyPDFPlay sets no page or file-size limit, although a very large file depends on your device’s memory.
Edit text, add text or whiteout?
Edit text
Changes words that are already in the PDF.
Add text
Add text places new text anywhere on the page, which suits blank lines and forms.
Whiteout
If you only need to hide something, whiteout a PDF online covers it with a white box. It does not remove the content underneath.
What to know before you edit a PDF
Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, so there is no real text to edit. EasyPDFPlay has no OCR. You can still sign and annotate them.
Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.
Text is edited a line at a time, so a longer rewrite may need adjustment across neighbouring lines.
Look over the downloaded file before you send it. If it contains sensitive information, do not assume changed or covered content has been permanently removed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
Not the text. A scan is an image of a page, and EasyPDFPlay does not do text recognition. You can still sign, highlight, draw and add text on top of it.
Will my edited text match the original font?
In most cases yes, because the editor reuses the fonts embedded in your PDF. If a character is missing from that font it falls back to the closest matching font.
Is my PDF uploaded when I edit it?
No. The file is opened and edited in your browser and saved on your device.
Is there a watermark or page limit?
No watermark is added and EasyPDFPlay sets no page or file-size limit. Very large files depend on your device’s memory, so a big document may open slowly on an older phone.
Does it change my original file?
No. Your download is a new copy with “-edited” added to the name. Keep a backup of important originals anyway.
